First day in Monti

After a quiet morning and some extra sleep I am feeling almost human again.  There is a lot to see in this new neighborhood and kind of tough to navigate with all of her tiny curves and narrow staircases. Lots of streets just end, and you have to wander around a bit to pick up the thread. People are out and about but most seem to be locals.  Haven’t heard much English spoken yet.

But you can tell we are hitting high season stride … on the surrounding streets the buses are starting to pound the pavement.

And the new Papa hosted three hundred thousand families with school-age kids at San Pietro today celebrating school and learning for children. Streets blocked in every direction and roads shut down for hours. Now that is my idea of hell… Luckily our neighborhood is far enough away to withstand the onslaught.  Good time to head south.
